I usually could care less about the Olympics, since I'm not a huge sports person. I love the Winter Olympics, however! Lately though, I've been watching a bunch of the swimming (because swimmers are hot!).
So, tonight (or rather, last night) I was watching all the swimming that was going on and I was getting really exciting for the 4x100 men's relay race because France said that they were going to smash the American team. Which, hello, I'm going to effing watch NOW.
And, let me just say how freaking annoyed I was at the announcers. The entire time pre-race, they were going on and on about how, honestly, the Americans just did not have a chance of beating the French unless they swam perfectly. How the hell can you even predict that? It's a sport. Anything could happen. So, after that I was pulling for the US team even more. And holy shit... once they started, I was shouting at the TV and cheering on all of the swimmers. I screamed like a fangirl when Jason Lezak started catching up on Bernard, the French swimmer. And when he touched the wall... I was on my feet and jumping.
It was very un-me. The race can be read about here: http://www.nbcolympics.com/swimming/news/newsid=194272.html#relay+instant+olympic+classic?GT1=39001
Honestly, all of the teams really impressed me. I think the top five were all swimming above the world record, which is just amazing, but the Americans, French, and Aussie teams were definitely ahead of the record by far.
